The new album is here! In 2019, PIANOVERSAL dedicates two albums to Swiss composer, pianist and improviser Esther Flückiger, who lives in Milan. In «Verso Nikà» für piano, Elektronik, Klangskulpturen und Muschelhorn lotet Flückiger das Thema der Migration aus. "Verso Nikà" was created for Esther Flückiger's project of the same name with artists Karin Eggers and Susana Talayero for performances in the summer of 2018 on the island of Pantelleria in the Sicilian Channel.

Flückiger's music is a sonic journey that reflects the current tragic situation of migration between two continents in many dimensions.
Some incorporated texts by Toni Maraini form the analytical counterpoint to the sonic events. Electronic music in subtle mix with the intimate sound of the piano symbolically depict the complex connection between the outer and inner world of migrating people in need. This is entirely in the spirit of the artist's guiding idea:

"The refugee flows of recent years force us to look at what is happening around us and to show it to others. We must use all means to clarify processes that disappear far too quickly in everyday life. With this performance, we want to keep interest in the stories of these people alive."

Esther Flückiger has always stood for captivating and sonically sensible stylistic excursions between Classical & Contemporary Music, Jazz & Groove and Ethno. Unconventional sounds and experiments are a hallmark of her music. Her subtle use of self-created electronic sounds in interaction with her piano music makes Esther Flückiger a unique artist in the field of electronic music. With "Verso Nikà" she also sets an important social exclamation point.

In the fall, PIANOVERSAL will release a portrait album with chamber music by Esther Flückiger.
