Pianist Stefka Perifanova has made a name for herself with her versatility, stylistic breadth and unwavering musical instinct. Als leidenschaftliche Interpretin zeitgenössischer Musik arbeitet sie regelmäßig mit Komponisten zusammen, über 40 Solo- und Ensemblewerke hat sie uraufgeführt. As a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist, she performs throughout Europe, Korea, Colombia and the USA.
She completed her studies at the Music Academy Sofia in Bulgaria under professors Konstantin and Julya Ganev. Subsequently, she worked as their assistant for four years. In 1993, she received the "Cyrillus and Methodius" scholarship and continued her studies with Rudolf Buchbinder, Bruno Canino and Gérard Wyss in Switzerland.
She is a prize winner of numerous competitions, including 1st Prize at the Concurso Internacional de Musica da Ciudade do Porto and the Tschumi Prize. Since 2005, she has been a member of the chamber music ensemble "Camerata Variabile". Sie ist auch Mitbegründerin des Klaviertrios «Absolut Trio». Die Debüts des «Absolut Trio» in der Wigmore Hall und in der Tonhalle Zürich 2007 wurden von der Musikpresse hoch gelobt. The trio consistently awards composition commissions, and 15 new works are now part of their repertoire. 2018 wurde das «Absolut Trio» mit dem Kulturpreis «Interpretation» der Stadt Zürich ausgezeichnet. CD recordings have been released on the labels Guild, Solo Musica and Musiques Suisses.
2019 haben Stefka Perifanova und Sopranistin Sarah Maria Sun für das Label «Mode» die Messiaen-Lieder «Harawi» aufgenommen. Stefka Perifanova is a sought-after duo partner of renowned soloists such as Sol Gabetta, Raphael Oleg and Hansheinz Schneeberger. As a highly valued piano assistant at master classes, she has worked with Janos Starker, Igor Oistrach, Menahem Pressler, Bernard Greenhouse and Jean-Jacques Kantorow. Sie verfügt auch als Jurorin über umfangreiche Erfahrung und ist eine gefragte Dozentin für Kammermusik und Klavier. Seit 1999 ist sie Dozentin an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste und seit 2011 an der Musik Akademie Basel.
