"I have always been attracted to and fascinated by the magic of music. And for just as long, singing has been the most familiar, beautiful and expressive instrument to me." Mojca Vedernjak
Mojca Vedernjak was engaged as a permanent member at Theater Bielefeld from 1999–2003. In 2000, she was awarded the Operntaler by the friends of the theater and concerts there. Seit 2004 ist sie als freischaffende Künstlerin tätig. In roles such as Angelina / La Cenerentola, Rosina / Il barbiere di Siviglia, Doralice / La Gazzetta, Contessa Melibea / Il viaggio a Reims, Hänsel / Hänsel und Gretel, Dorabella / Cosi fan tutte, Cherubino / Le nozze di Figaro, Idamante / Idomeneo, Cecilio / Luccio Silla, Charlotte / Werther, Marguerite / La damnation de Faust and Carmen / Carmen, she has performed as a guest at various European opera houses and opera festivals.
Als Lied- und Konzertsängerin mit breitem Repertoire von Barock bis zur Gegenwart hatte sie zahlreiche Konzertauftritte, u.a. mit der Slowenischen Philharmonie, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Orchestre National de Lille, Janaček Philharmonie, Bielefelder Philharmoniker, Zürcher Kammerorchester sowie Sinfonietta Basel. The dissemination of lesser-known lieder repertoire, especially from the 20th century, and the work of women composers from various eras is a special concern of Mojca Vedernjak. She sang lieder recitals and moderated chamber music projects throughout the European region.
Mojca Vedernjak graduated from the Music Academy Ljubljana in Slovenia. As a scholarship recipient of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, she subsequently studied in the concert class and opera studio at the Basel Music Academy. Sie war auch Mitglied des Internationalen Opernstudios Zürich am Opernhaus Zürich.
