Esther Flückiger
Pianist - Composer - Improviser
Esther Flückiger, pianist, improviser and composer also in the multimedia field, draws from a rich source that demonstrates her familiarity with both classical repertoire and jazz idioms. She has always experimented on new paths and emotional musical adventures, avoiding well-trodden paths. She is dedicated to the interpretation of contemporary and classical music, improvisation and electronic music and gives concerts as a soloist and in ensembles of various musical styles in Europe, America, Russia, Asia and South America with performances at festivals for traditional and contemporary music, also as a soloist with orchestra. As a composer, she has written and received commissions for works of various instrumental types, for music theater and film. She has created and organized numerous multimedia projects, also with her own films (camera, editing) and has achieved great success with the press and public. One of these is "Cosmo" (The Four Elements in the Universe of Leonardo da Vinci), which was performed at the Milan Theater Franco Parenti as part of EXPO 2015. She has recorded CDs for labels Nuova Era, Pentaphon, Altrisuoni, Leorecords and others. Further recordings were made for radio and television broadcasts in Switzerland and Italy. Esther Flückiger is founder of Suonodonne Italia. From 2002 to 2008, she was a board member as a European representative in the IAWM (International Alliance for Women in Music), USA. Insights into her musical work in word and image are provided by the book "Esther Flückiger – A proposito di Lei" by Iaia Gagliani.
