"Composing is circling around a center that one cannot quite reach. In the end, dissatisfaction remains – that then becomes the next work."
"Art is world experience, is knowledge, is emotional education. But for that one also needs the awareness that one simply hasn't understood some things yet. That's how it is for me too. And that doesn't just concern new music. Mozart too will never be fully understood."
Beat Furrer

Beat Furrer explores music in all its sound spaces and dimensions. Each work is created anew from an attitude of exploring unknown possibilities. The piano is again an important subject in his works, both solo and chamber music. Among his most important piano compositions are the Piano Concerto (2007), Phasma (2002) and the "Three Piano Pieces" (2003/2004).

"We don't need to know, we must be open, we must discover a new world."
"There have never been so many composers as there are today, and of course there are many good composers. What one can complain about is music education in schools; above all, the language must be learned, and tradition must be understood."
