"Substance, form, and shape must be a unity! If you try to divide them, you're out."
"All different movements are always related to the same basis, to the fundamental harmonic flow. When you go out on a sunny day at noon, you can see many things, most diverse, everywhere – but everything is related to the sun. Because the sun shines. It's the same kind of connection when we talk about music. About the many happenings, movements in the shortest time."
Anders Eliasson (Interview with Christoph Schlüren, 1996)
In his music, Anders Eliasson found his own personal "alphabet" - as he calls it himself. His music is characterized by continuous coherence and a penetrating inner connection. He wrote several works for piano, beginning with "Versione" in 1973. The "Disegno" cycle (1985-2005) stands at the center of his music for keyboard instruments. Among his last compositions is the "Doppio Concerto" for violin, piano & orchestra (2005).

"You speak of ideas, of inspirations. I don't know where inspirations come from. They just come to me. I can't trace them to any particular source. I can't say either that it's my will. They come into my head, and I use them."
"But very soon I stopped with all that, and I tried to understand what I found in my letters, in my alphabet. It’s very simple, and I still try to see what it is. It’s so highly interesting because it’s absolutely boundless. But there’s a strong limitation underlying it. If you venture into it and try to exhaust it, it becomes unbounded. It’s a paradox. And that’s why, I think, it’s extremely interesting: to get under the skin of music."
