19 April 1892, Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, Val-de-Marne - 7 November 1983, Paris
Germaine Tailleferre was an exceptionally inspired composer who remained true to her own sensual musical language over many decades. As a young woman, she was the only female member of the "Groupe des Six". Her notorious modesty repeatedly stood in the way of the dissemination of her music during her lifetime. Tailleferre wrote over 30 piano pieces (solo & duo), several concertante works and chamber music with piano in the most varied ensembles. Her oeuvre is still insufficiently documented on recordings and has not been adequately studied by musicologists.
